SIRIS – Swiss Implant Registry for Hip, Knee, and Shoulder
The national mandatory registry for hip and knee implants in Switzerland was launched in September 2012. Commissioned by the National Association for Quality Development in Hospitals and Clinics in Switzerland (ANQ), SIRIS was designed as an implant registry for endoprosthetic surgery in Switzerland.
In 2025, the registry was expanded to include shoulder implants, and since 2026, clinics have been invited to collect Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). To minimize the effort required for data collection, a range of tools are available to both clinics and patients.
SIRIS Hip, Knee, and Shoulder serves as an early warning system to identify poorly performing implants or medical processes. Additionally, as a tool for continuous learning, it contributes to improving the quality of implant medicine. The revision rate for primary hip, knee and shoulder prostheses within the first 24 months after implantation is of particular importance in this regard.
